  • As students make their post-high school graduation plans, one option to consider is attending a U.S. Service Academy.  Members of Congress, including our representative in Tennessee’s 7th District, Marsha Blackburn, are able to nominate a limited number of students to service academies each year including the U. S. Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Merchant Marine Academy.  Admission into a U. S. Service Academy is fiercely competitive but offers graduates the opportunity to receive a college degree and become commissioned officers in their respective branch of service.  Academy attendees also have their tuition paid for in exchange for a minimum of five years of military service upon graduation.

To help students learn more about all that U. S. Service Academies offer, Congressman Blackburn is hosting an Academy Day 2015 on the campus of Franklin High School, 810 HillsboroRd., Franklin, TN on Saturday, September 19 at 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Students will have an opportunity to meet with representatives, alumni, and current Cadets and Midshipmen from all five Military Service Academies to learn about Academy life as well as the nomination process.  Students can also meet with ROTC representatives and learn about available college scholarships.

Congressman Blackburn & her staff are excited to meet this year’s prospective nominees and wish all of our applicants the best of luck!  Visit the Guidance Office to learn more.
