FAFSA Night for  February 8 has been CANCELLED due to possible bad weather.  Counselors will be available to help Seniors with FAFSA during school hours.

The 2015-16 school year is off to a great start! Listed below are a few things to share with you.

  • FAFSA Night –  HAS BEEN CANCELLED for February 8
    • The Guidance Department will be available to help you with any questions and to complete the FAFSA during school hours. The deadline to complete it is February 15.
  • Basketball game at HOME  vs. Camden has been rescheduled for Thursday (2-11-16).  This is a makeup game that was rescheduled from last week. JV game at 4:00.  Student tickets available in front office for $1.00.
  • HCHS Student Council is selling Coke, Sprite, and Dr. Pepper grams for $1.00 in the Cafeteria. These orders will be given out on Thursday, February 11 with all other Valentines Day deliveries.
  • No School for Students – Friday, February 12 and Monday, February 15
  • 2016 Yearbooks ​are now available for pre­order. Cost is $70.00. Deadline is ​March 4.​​ See Mrs. Jacobs to order
  • Congratulations ​to Lilly Owens for winning the 9th grade Regional Public Speaking Contest. She will compete at State 4­-H Congress in March!
  • Congratulations to our Winter Guard and Winter Percussion programs.​ They competed Saturday (1-30-16) at Independence High School with the percussion finishing first in their class and the guard finishing second in their class.
  • Congratulations to Tyler Campbell and Destiny Pye ​for being crowned Spirit King and Queen.

  • East Hickman Sweetheart Pageant­​ – Any girl interested can pick up an entry form in the Front Office.
  • Miss Hickman County Pageant entry forms are available in the Front Office and in the Library.

    • Advance HOME GAME tickets for HCHS students are available for $1.00 and can be purchased in the front office.  All home game tickets are $5.00 at the door.

  • Centerville Women’s Club Poetry Contest   Poems are due by Friday, February 26.  ­See your English teacher for information regarding this contest.

  • Attention Seniors – National Youth Science Camp – Applications are now being accepted for graduating high school seniors to attend The National Youth Science Camp. Two delegates from each state will be selected to attend the camp from June 15 through July 10 in West Virginia. During the camp, leading scientists from across the country will present lectures and hands-on science seminars. Delegates will also have opportunities to present seminars covering their own areas of interest and research. The deadline to register is February 17.  Click HERE for more information.
  • Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program -Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants​​ are pleased to be able to continue with our scholarship program for the 9th year. We will be awarding up to $1,000 ​to the winner(s) each year. Scholarship Deadline is­ ​​June 10, 2016. Application Process­​ – Students will submit an essay on the topic that appears on the scholarship page of our web site: http://www.abbottandfenner.com/scholarships.htm Full details are available on the site.
  • BigSun Scholarship – The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to continue to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits.  We are offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student.  All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in.  Deadline is June 17, 2016.  Amount of award – $500.00.  The successful applicant will be a high school senior or be attending a post secondary institute and currently involved in some sport at that institution or in the community.   Visit www.bigsunathletics.com to learn how to apply.
  • 2016 Tennessee Governor’s Schools – Tennessee provides 12 summer programs for gifted and talented high school students. Students in the tenth and eleventh grades who would like to participate in a challenging and high-intensity program in one of the twelve areas should click HERE to obtain application.   • SENIORS:TN Promise has changed the community service start date.​Students may now begin​ their community service on Tuesday, November 3​. TN Promise requires 8 hours of community service for each semester you are in college.
  • Student Application Open for 2015-16 U.S. Senate Youth Program– The program offers high school students in their junior or senior years the opportunity to participate in an annual Washington Week event in March, which includes a variety of events that promote a unique understanding of the structure of our national government. The Hearst Foundations also offer selected state finalists a $5,000 undergraduate scholarship. The student application and instructions for applying are available here
