It is very important for students to know their basic math facts. The best way for a student to demonstrate fluency (speed and accuracy) with these facts is to learn them at school and practice them at home. Please practice math facts at home each night. Here are the fluency expectations for each grade level.
Kindergarten: Add/subtract within 5 from memory
First Grade: Add/subtract within 10 from memory
Second Grade: Add/subtract within 20 from memory
