It is very important for students to know their basic math facts. The best way for a student to demonstrate fluency (speed and accuracy) with these facts is to learn them at school and practice them at home. Please practice math facts at home each night. Here are the fluency expectations for each grade level.

Third Grade:        Multiply/divide within 100 from memory
Add/subtract within 1000 using learned strategies

Fourth Grade:       Add/subtract within 1,0000,000 using standard algorithm.
ex. 14,000
+  2,000
16,000

Fifth Grade:     Multiply multi-digit whole number using standard algorithm.
ex.  4,000
