Position : Fleet Mechanic

Responsibilities
Performs the diagnosis and repair of district vehicular equipment
Assists Head Mechanic in maintenance of a current inventory of supplies and equipment
Assists Head Mechanic in establishing an efficient and effective system of routine automotive
maintenance and preventive care
Maintains records of all maintenance and repair work
Maintains high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all work connected areas
Complies with all Federal, state and local laws and regulations for the maintenance, repair and
operation of equipment and machines [OSHA] Reports all conditions that present safety hazards on buses and other automotive equipment
immediately to the Director of Transportation
Complies with all Federal, state and local laws and regulations for the storage, use and disposal
of trash, rubbish, waste and hazardous material [OSHA] Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

CDL Class A License with a P-S Endorsement or ability to acquire one
Basic Computer Skills
Trained and Proficient in Diesel and Gasoline Diagnostic Repair
Ability to Lift Over 100 LBS.
Drive and Substitute as a School Bus Driver
Ability to Pass a Background Check
Ability to Pass a Random Drug Test
A high school diploma or training and experience that are considered equivalent
A proficiency in repair and maintenance of buses, trucks and other automotive equipment
Two years of mechanic experience 11. An ability to communicate in a courteous manner
Such alternatives to the above qualification as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable

Reports To:
Director of Transportation or his/her designee

Job Goal:
To keep the district’s cars and buses in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program

Conduct:
Each staff member shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance and abuse of
any prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.

Each staff member shall serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and
as responsible, intelligent human beings. Each staff member has a legal responsibility to help instill in
students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
