BE IN THE ZONE-Turn off Your Phone Phase 2: School-Based Program is a Teen Motor Vehicle Safety Program that encourages teenagers to take the lessons they learned in the hospital and translate it into a year long distracted driving campaign in their school with a focus on cell phone use, especially texting while driving.

Here is a list of upcoming events that Hickman Humane Society will be hosting. Any volunteer help would be most appreciated,and students can use their time with us to fulfill service hour requirements. Our members commented at our meeting this month that all of the help that we have received so far has been ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC, and we can’t say enough good things about our “helpers”!
June 11 will be the Rabies vaccination clinic at East Hickman Community Center. Volunteers will be needed from 9-3. Interested volunteers can call the hotline at 1-866-304-3352 or contact Mrs. Vicki.Chessor.

Seniors: The deadline to apply for the Summer Bridge program is May 1st. You may apply by visiting tnachieves.org. The Summer Bridge Program is a free three-week program designed to help incoming students start school on a more college-ready level, both academically and socially. You are eligible to apply if you made below a 19 on the Math or Reading section of the ACT or an 18 on the English section of the ACT. Please see your email for more information.
Seniors attending Columbia State:There will be a Meet and Greet for students planning on attending Columbia State on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at Hickman County High School. This event is designed for prospective students to meet Columbia State staff and ask questions that you may have before you begin college. You will also be able to meet students from Hickman County that are currently attending Columbia State. You and your parent/guardians are welcome to attend. Food and refreshments will be served. The event should last about an hour. If you plan on going please respond to the email that was sent to you with the number of guests that will be attending.
Seniors: Senior Trip Tickets are on sale until the 29th for $25.50 per ticket. See Mrs. Castleberry.
Graduation practice will be Friday, May 13th.
There will be a meeting tomorrow (Thursday, April 28th) during Eagle time for current Sophomores and Juniors interested in dual enrollment with Columbia State. A representative from Columbia State will be here to answer any questions you may have about dual enrollment. Students will also be able to apply. The application fee is $10.00 and can be paid tomorrow or mailed in at a later date.
The HOSA meeting will be Thursday, April 28th during Eagle Time in Mrs. Redding’s room 136. We will be electing officers for the 2016-2017 school year.
FCCLA will be hosting a Luau during Eagle Time on Thursday in Mrs. Boehm’s room. Anyone interested in becoming an FCCLA member next year is invited to attend. All FCCLA members please stop by Mrs. Boehms room before Thursday.
The EHHS talent show and the Faculty play will be on Wednesday, May 11. Any student may participate in the talent show. Forms and information will be available beginning Monday, April 25th.
Tryouts for the East Hickman High School Lady Eagles Basketball Team for the 2016-2017 season will take place on Monday, May 2, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. All incoming Freshmen (current 8th graders) and Rising Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who are interested in trying out for the team this year will need to be present (*Exception will only be made for individuals who play Spring Sports and their team is still in post season tournament play). After the tryouts on Monday, we will decide which girls will make the final team, and a list will be posted Tuesday morning at both EHMS and EHHS. Coach Taylor has Physical forms. Anyone planning to tryout must have a current physical.
Any current Student Council member who would like to be in the yearbook photo needs to report to Miss Robinson’s room this today during Eagle Time.
Any Seniors interested in running for Mr. And Miss EHHS need to pick up a nomination form from Miss Robinson. All forms must be submitted by 8:00 a.m. Friday, April 29. No late forms will be accepted. The school wide election will be on Monday, May 2 during Eagle Time.
There will be Volleyball conditioning today, but then we will not have Volleyball until AFTER EOC’s. We will resume on the 9th.
Anyone participating in the “Knights of Pythias” Poster Contest need to have those completed by Friday. See Mrs. Clark if you have questions.
